Flashpoint Theatre Company’s 9th Season was being marketed as XX. It was the first of two seasons exploring gender, and in addition to their much-loved holiday rep, XX brings two plays about the joys, the struggle, the vulnerability, and the power of being a woman. As with every Flashpoint season, a specific aesthetic needed to be created for the current season that could carry through the second, related season, as well. Individual images were developed for each show that would be iconic and give a nod to the sparse aesthetic of the popular television show, Mad Men. In addition to the postcards, posters and a banner were printed and displayed at the performance venue, and all social media featured the images for the shows. The design for The Santaland Diaries was featured in this article in the New York Times about artwork created by different theater companies to market Santaland.
